Studio Signal Infrastructure

Audio/video routing for the essential VO Live ↔ Control Room studio pair, plus independent Video Studio operation with no fixed signal tie to Control Room. Phase 1 works without Dante — analog routing via patchbay.

Control Room end: Cables terminate under engineer desk via floor-level entry. No wall panel on Control Room side — eliminates cable runs between OW-1 observation window and desk. Loose connector bundle managed with Velcro ties under desk shelf.

SSOT v3.7 decision: No fixed stagebox and no fixed signal run to Control Room. Video Studio can record completely independently using camera inputs or a portable field recorder.
[AC] Acoustic benefit: W5 and W6 wall integrity is fully preserved because no signal conduit penetrations are required for Studio operation.

Editing Suite — No Stagebox Required

The Editing Suite (B312-2) is a self-contained post-production room. All work uses pre-recorded material from the DAW and NAS storage. No live microphone inputs, no performer monitoring, and no real-time signal routing to Control Room.

A stagebox would be unused wall hardware. Decision: no stagebox in Editing Suite. If future live recording needs arise, a direct XLR wall panel can be added without structural changes.

Dante Upgrade Path (Phase 2)

Current (Phase 1): Works without Dante — analog routing via patchbay. All signal paths are copper.

Upgrade path: Dante upgrade requires Apollo x16D (Dante-native) or a standalone Dante bridge device. The Apollo x4 does not have a Dante card slot. Cat6A infrastructure is already in place for either path.

No additional cabling required for the essential studio pair — the Cat6A run through SB-01 remains Dante-ready. Video Studio can add a local network switch later without any fixed tie to Control Room.

Technical Grounding Strategy [AC]

Star grounding topology prevents ground loops between rooms. All AV equipment chassis ground returns via a single dedicated IG conductor to the star ground bus at the sub-panel.

ParameterSpecification
SystemTN-S star topology — separate neutral and protective earth
Technical groundIsolated Ground (IG) conductors on all AV circuits
Star ground pointSingle dedicated bus bar at sub-panel
AV circuitsAV-01 through AV-04 use IG receptacles (orange)
Ground loop preventionAll AV equipment chassis ground via star point only
Conduit25mm EMT — does NOT carry IG conductor (separate insulated green/yellow)
ReceptaclesOrange isolated-ground (IG) Schuko 16A at all AV positions
Critical [AC]: No ground loops between rooms. Chassis ground for all AV equipment returns via dedicated IG conductor to star ground bus. Do not bond equipment chassis to conduit or building steel — use IG conductor only.
